Aston Carter Controller in Landover, Maryland

Description:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the manufacturing industry and will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities during the assignment period. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.

  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.

  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

  • Additional controller duties as necessary.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

  • Proven working experience as a Controller in the manufacturing industry.

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

  • Experience with creating financial statements.

  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.

  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting (required)

  • 5+ years in Accounting

  • SAP (preferred)

  • Paycom (preferred)

  • Active CPA in Maryland is required
