Job Title: Outreach Benefits Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Outreach Benefits Specialist to join our team. This role involves participating in training and certification activities, independently scheduling and conducting enrollment assistance, and providing support to individuals as they navigate the outreach benefits self-service portal. The ideal candidate will track the status of pending applications, submit documentation for manual ID verification, and provide information and services in a fair, accurate, and culturally appropriate manner.
Responsibilities
Participate in training and certification activities to gain an understanding of all facets of outreach benefits.
Independently schedule and conduct enrollment assistance at designated locations.
Provide assistance to individuals as they enroll or enter information into the outreach benefits self-service portal.
Track the status of pending applications and upload customer documents.
Submit documentation for Manual ID Verification for customers unable to verify their identity through Experian.
Provide information and services in a fair, accurate, and impartial manner.
Provide information in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the needs of the population being served, including individuals with limited English proficiency, using available tools such as fact sheets and Language Line.
Respond to customer inquiries by confirming understanding of each inquiry; gathering and researching information; assembling and providing information; and verifying the customer understands the information and answer.
Generate and submit weekly reports of required data, including but not limited to, numbers of applications, enrollments, and renewals, demographics of persons served, hours worked on-site and for enrollment assistance, numbers and types of referrals sent and received, number of appointments, and individuals assisted.
Essential Skills
Experience in social service, social work, human service, and community outreach.
Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Office.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Customer service expertise.
Ability to facilitate enrollment in Qualified Health Plans (QHP), insurance affordability programs, and other public service assistance programs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of community resources.
Understanding of the Affordable Care Act.
Skill in the preparation of detailed reports and plans.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to present information to various populations in an appropriate manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, clients, family members, and professional staff.
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, schedule and keep appointments.
Ability to keep accurate records.
Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.
Ability to work independently.
Work Environment
This position involves working at designated locations within the KIPDA region. The role requires the use of computers and applicable applications. The work environment is dynamic, requiring strong interpersonal and customer service skills. The position offers 8.5 paid holidays and 5 days of PTO, or 1 day of PTO earned for every 30 days worked, totaling up to 5 days.
